The preparations for the festival begin months in advance. On the day of Jeth Sud Poonam, the deities receive a sacred bath (Jalabhishek) and then travel to their maternal uncle’s home (Mosal) for 15 days. They return to the main temple on Jeth Vad Amavasya.

The Netrotsav Ritual

A day before the Rath Yatra, the traditional Netrotsav ceremony is performed at the Bhagvaneshwar Temple in Subhashnagar. During this ritual, the eyes of the deities are bandaged with honey and herbal medicines to help them recover from their 15-day stay at their maternal home. • Chickpea Prasad (Chana Prasad): This year, the organizing committee has prepared 3 tons (3,000 kg) of chickpeas as the primary Prasad.
