Bhavnagar city is in Gujarat’s Saurashtra Region. Inside this busy city is the pretty Nilambag Palace Hotel. Back in 1879, Maharaja Saheb Takhatsinhji of Bhavnagar asked German architect, Simms, to design the Nilambag Palace. It’s been the royal family’s home for generations. Made of Rajula stone with a mix of Colonial style, it’s grand and useful. This palace used to be where the Gohil family lived. When India got freedom in 1947, Maharaja Krishna Kumar Singhji was the first to give up his kingdom and join India. In 1984, the palace was turned into a heritage hotel to keep its history alive and let others enjoy it too.
