The Golibar Hanuman Temple in Bhavnagar is a historic shrine dedicated to Lord Hanuman, revered as a protector of the poor, fulfiller of wishes, and caretaker of cows, akin to Lord Krishna. This 200-year-old temple is steeped in history and faith, making it a significant spiritual landmark in Gujarat.

The temple’s name, “Golibar Hanuman,” has a unique story. The site was once a firing range for army personnel on what is now known as Jawahar Maidan or Gadhedia Field. Around 225 years ago, soldiers witnessed a miraculous event during training: a divine light appeared, revealing an idol of Lord Hanuman. In honor of this divine occurrence at the firing range, the idol was established and the temple named Golibar Hanuman.

Initially, the idol was placed at the edge of Jawahar Maidan and later moved to its current location across the field. Over the years, the small shrine grew into the grand temple that stands today, retaining its historical connection to the army training ground.

While the temple has grown in size and prominence, it continues to embody faith, service, and compassion. The charitable initiatives begun by Madanmohandasji Bapa have further strengthened the temple’s role as a center of devotion and humanitarian service.
